SKEIN & GARMENT COMPETITION

GENERAL RULES & INFORMATION

1)    Check in entries by 4 p.m., Tuesday, October 2nd, at the Tail Spinner.

2)  Mail-in entries will be accepted.  Mail must arrive by October 2nd, along with return postage, and be sent to:

3)  On a 3 x 5 card, give your name, address, phone number, email, which class you wish to enter, and any other needed information.

4)  Entry fee is $1.00 per item.

5)  Judging will be on Thursday, October 4, starting at 6 PM

6)  All entries must be the work of the exhibitor and completed in the past 2 years.  Maximum of three entries per class division  per exhibitor.

7)  After judging skeins, garments, and wool will be displayed in the shop.

8)  The Tail Spinner will make every effort to display and care for the items entered, but assumes no responsibility for loss or damage.  Entries may be picked up at the shop after Tuesday, 9 October; and mail-in entries will be mailed back to the sender after that date.

SKEIN  CONTEST

Weight of skeins should be at least 1 ounce in weight. 

All skeins must be handspun.

Skeins should be tied securely in at least 4 places.   

Entries must include description and end use (what you plan to make with the yarn – THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.)  Description should include color, weight, plies, special technique, fiber content with approximate percentages, etc.

Classes are as follows: 

  1. Singles, fine and even as possible,

  2. Two-ply;  fine, medium, or bulky 

  3. Other ply or novelty.

GARMENT CONTEST

Entries must include description of item.  Description should include name of article, yarn used with the approximate percentages of fiber content, technique used (hand knit, crochet, woven, felted,  etc.) 

Classes are as follows:

  1. Items made of at least 50% handspun yarns. 

  2. Items made from commercially spun yarns.
